Sound Synching at PNC


PAL offers a new purpose built studio for all your sound synching to picture requirements. Responding to the demands of production manager's and editors for a flexible, efficient and economical service, PAL's expertise combines industry standard 'Sadie' digital editing with highly trained personnel to deliver digital sound synchronisation of Betacam rushes.			A Dat clone is a digital copy of the master sound rushes with exactly the same timecode as that on the Betacam rushes, and are used at the sound auto conform as they offer superior sound quality to that of the Betacam sound. Dat clones are now considered essential, especially in the documentary and drama fields. Editors often have difficulty in locating the wild track sounds recorded on location, especially if they are strewn over numerous tapes. A wild track Beta is a collection of all wild tracks on one Betacam tape, complete with a report identifying the tracks and their timecode location. In addition a dat clone of the Beta tape can be produced. Editors are always anxious to receive synchronised rushes as swiftly as possible, and viewing copies are often required for the production company and their client to view, either on location or at their offices. PAL can provide viewing copies on low band U-Matic and standard VHS, with or without burnt in timecode (BITC). We can produce two U-Matic and four VHS copies simultaneously. Additional copies can be made, but please note that this may delay delivery of the Beta rushes to the editor. Often, when interviewing people for documentary's, the interview needs to be transcribed. PAL can produce transcription cassettes for this purpose and while these are usually supplied on audio cassette, we also can provide them on either VHS, 1/4", Betacam or Dat.
